Our experienced sports therapists at SAGE love to play a key role in the treatment of all levels of athletes – from professional sportspersons, body builders, social team players or solo adventurers.
Staying active is so important and we don’t want injury to get in the way. Your Sage therapist can assist you in one of 3 ways:
• Pre-event’ – prepares your body for the challenge ahead by increasing blood supply & joint mobility. It allows the muscles to get warmed up and stretched out so you’re more flexible. It also helps get you in the right frame of mind and positive mindset.
• ‘Post-event’ – facilitates recovery from event/workout as well as treatment & rehabilitation of any injuries.It aims to increase the body’s rate of recovery by reducing inflammation in the muscles. Post event massage also aims to increase vascular and lymphatic activity, aiding the body’s natural process of removing waste products after exercise, such as lactic acid.
• ‘Maintenance’ – massage in between events or workouts aims to release tightness within soft tissues to improve performance and prevent injury. Massage improves blood flow which can assist healing to damaged and affected areas. Minor injuries and lesions can be repaired quickly and effectively.
